Mission and Advocacy Council of Second Presbyterian Church invites your participation in faithful advocacy action next week.

January 15, 2024 | 32nd Annual Rally for Sensible Gun Laws

• We leave the church at 1:30pm and walk the three blocks (10 min) to the capitol bell tower. Join the 11 people from Second who have committed to being a part of this action. Advocacy with legislators at the new General Assembly building will be possible after the vigil. This rally is sponsored by the Virginia Center for Public Safety. We set a goal that 20 people from Second Church would attend. You are invited to be one of the 20!

January 17, 2024 | The Day for All People

• Register here. There is a $40 registration fee which includes lunch. This event begins at 8:30am at St. Paul’s Episcopal. It is sponsored by the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy. Learn to become involved in the legislative process through advocacy. The day of speakers, training, and advocacy will end at 3pm.

Our commitment as a Matthew 25 congregation and an Earthcare congregation call us to consider joining in these efforts to make real world changes to eradicate systemic poverty and dismantle structural racism.
