The 2nd Presbyterian Church Childcare operated as a nonprofit for 48 years!
Our mission partner, the YWCA, has just opened a new branch of their childcare, the Sprout School, in the same space. This mission is a public/private partnership which allows for sliding scale tuition. The sliding scale tuition model is proven to bring together a racially and economically integrated community. This was one of the original calls of our 2nd Presbyterian Church Childcare!
Our mission council has discerned that we at 2nd Presbyterian are called to partner in the YWCA mission of “Eliminating Racism and Empowering Women.” The YWCA’s Sprout School model is proven to accomplish our shared mission and we are supporting their launch of the Sprout School in any way they are asking. One of those ways is to support our new childcare teachers and children by volunteering!
There are two types of volunteer needs in this in-house mission!
Lunch support: delivering food to classrooms and washing dishes.
(Weekday Opportunities 11am-1pm)
Reading and Rocking: our classrooms need extra love in the morning! Come rock babies and read to sweet littles!
(Weekday Opportunities 9am-11am)
