RPS Love of Literacy book collection
Help us Build Home Libraries for Our Students!
According to recent tests, less than 50% of K-12 students in RPS are on track to read on grade level by 3rd grade. Our goal for 2021-2022 is to ensure that EVERY RPS student has a home library to build culture and love of reading. We need books, lots of books!
The Mission and Advocacy Council has agreed to join this community effort by filling a book vending machine at Chimborazo Elementary School. Check out the list below for books the teachers of RPS have recommended. We will collect new and gently used books, and they don’t have to be on the teachers’ list. Bins for the book collection will be placed in the Narthex and in the hallway behind the Sanctuary. We will likely have more than one collection throughout the school year. Help us welcome the students back with plenty of books and donate by Sunday, September 12th. Questions? Contact Kelley at kconnelly@2presrichmond.org. Thanks for supporting this effort from the Mission and Advocacy Council!
