Support Afghan Families
ReEstablish Richmond is responding to this crisis by providing assistance to Afghan families already resettled in Richmond. These families are experiencing crisis and instability, along with levels of helplessness and despair as they try to help their family members in Afghanistan find safety.
We want to show solidarity and provide emotional support by organizing a homemade bread + handwritten card delivery to current Afghan clients living in the Richmond area.
This is where we need your help. We will deliver bread+hand written cards to 83 families. These are Afghan families who have received services from ReEstablish Richmond in the last year. We are also actively supporting 30 Afghan clients who are helping their family members evacuate.
We need 85 hand written cards (we are asking for up to 200 so we can provide more than one card per family) delivered to our office no later than Wednesday, September 8th. Our office is located at 2705 Park Ave. It is the house (The Pusey House) located right behind First Baptist Church on Monument Ave. There will be a plastic tote on the doorstep next Tuesday and Wednesday where you can drop the cards in the tote. Please sign up for the number of cards you can commit to contributing.

Islamic Center of VA: For now what we need the most is monetary donations and used cars to help these families resettle in the area. The Islamic Center of VA is working collaboratively with several local organizations on this effort.
If your community members would like to donate, donations will be collected through The Islamic Center of VA which has non-profit status. They will disburse funds to other non-profits as needed. Please make sure you choose the category “REFUGEE” using this link.
If anyone is interested in donating a used car, please get in touch with me and I will connect you with the person in charge. (Email: Imad Damaj) Thank you for your support of the Afghan community!
