Mission Partners Potential Volunteer Opportunities

Second Presbyterian Mission Partners Potential Volunteer Opportunities

ACTS

Second Presbyterian may wish to become more involved with ACTS by providing “Care Bags” for clients. Care Bags consist of household cleaning products, personal hygiene items, and gift cards for groceries, and transportation. These much needed items are provided to clients after attending an Intake Assessment with an ACTS Case Manager. Additionally, ACTS is always looking for volunteers to assist with various fundraising events.

    CARITAS

We have begun a new initiative to continue the spirit of giving that congregations have always been a part of CARITAS. Helping Hands is a way for local congregations to sponsor a day at the CARITAS shelter. Now that the shelters are both permanently located at our Stockton and Dinwiddie campuses, congregations can volunteer for a full day in the shelter with hourly shifts scheduled from 7am to 7pm.

Additionally, volunteers support CARITAS by creating cleaning, hygiene and welcome kits to program participants in our emergency shelter and The Healing Place programs

    CARITAS-The Healing Place

Meals and kits including essential items needed during their stay are provided for program participants through the generosity of volunteer groups. Volunteers can also assist our clients in the Works program by helping them draft resumes or practice job interview skills. Additionally, volunteers support CARITAS by creating cleaning, hygiene and welcome kits to program participants in our emergency shelter and The Healing Place programs.

For more information about these opportunities, contact Christopher Lee, Volunteer Engagement Manager,clee@caritasva.org.

    CrossOver

At CrossOver, volunteers serve as licensed healthcare professionals, administrative volunteers, and interpreters. CrossOver has volunteer opportunities for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nursing professionals, dentists, ophthalmologists, chiropractors, physical therapists, and more. There is a particular need for volunteer interpreters in Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic. CrossOver asks that volunteers are 18 YO or older and commit to at least one year of service, but the number of hours and nature of work vary by role.
