September 13: Mission Sunday
Second has a history of mission ventures that serve people along our streets in Richmond and as far away as Guatemala and Malawi. In our building, we house a childcare center, provide weekly lunch for neighbors in need, and host a meal and visitation program for families of inmates. Through partnerships, our resources of time, talents and funds provide for the basic needs of housing, food, and health care; support vulnerable populations including prisoners, refugees, immigrants and children; and advocate for social and environmental justice. Our guest preacher will be Diane Givens Moffett. She is the President and Executive Director of the Presbyterian Mission Agency, and is the leading force behind Matthew 25 and Earthcare Churches for the PCUSA.
